Physical Performance Lead: Scottish Hockey

Scottish Hockey, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh Sport, are recruiting for a Physical Performance Lead to enhance the physical performance environment supporting the Scottish Senior Men’s National Team (SMNT), while contributing to one of the UK’s leading university performance sport programmes.

This unique role provides an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Physical Performance Practitioner who is ready to lead and influence within an international performance environment, delivering world class physical preparation, athlete monitoring, and applied sports science support.

Embedded within the University of Edinburgh’s Physical Preparation team whilst employed by Scottish Hockey, the successful candidate will work collaboratively across coaches, medical practitioners, the sportscotland Institute of Sport (SIS) and university staff to maximise athlete performance and availability.

Reports to: Senior Men’s Head Coach 
Location: University of Edinburgh Sport with travel throughout Scotland and internationally 
Contract: Fixed Term (2 Years) 
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum DOE 
Hours: 0.7 FTE Scottish Hockey / 0.3 FTE University of Edinburgh 

Essential:

  • Degree in Strength and Conditioning, Sport and Exercise Science, or related discipline.

  • UKSCA Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (or working towards), or equivalent.

  • Current First Aid qualification.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Eligible to work in the UK.

  • Experience delivering strength and conditioning within high performance sport.

Desired:

  • Masters degree in a relavent discipline.

  • BASES Accreditation or equivalent.

  • Additional qualifications in athlete monitoring, rehabilitation, or performance analysis.

  • Experience working within national governing body sport or institute of sport environment.

  • Experience working with team sport athletes.

  • Knowledge of hockey-specific physical demands.
