Stirling Albion Football Club is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Sports Scientist to join our backroom team, supporting both our First Team and Under-20 squads. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging practitioner to gain hands-on experience within a senior football environment, working with part‑time players and contributing directly to their physical development, performance, and wellbeing.
The Role
You will assist in delivering sports science support across training and matchdays, helping ensure players are physically prepared, monitored, and progressing. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, organised, and eager to learn within a competitive football setting.
Expected working pattern will include:
Tuesday evenings - training
Thursday evenings - training
Friday evenings – Occasional/optional Under-20 fixtures
Saturday afternoons – Occasional/optional First Team fixtures
Key Responsibilities
Support the planning and delivery of warm-ups, physical preparation, and conditioning sessions.
Assist with monitoring player load, wellness, and recovery strategies.
Assist in the collating, organising, and interpretation of training and matchday data (for example GPS, RPE etc.).
Contribute to injury prevention programmes in collaboration with medical staff.
Where needed, provide matchday support including warm-ups, hydration, and basic performance monitoring.
Maintain high professional standards and contribute positively to the club environment.
What We’re Looking For
A degree (or working towards one) in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field.
Experience working with athletes in a performance or development setting (football experience preferred but not essential).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with part‑time players and staff.
Reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
Confidence using performance monitoring tools and basic data analysis.
What We Offer
A supportive environment within a SPFL club.
Opportunities to gain practical experience across senior and development squads.
Mentorship from experienced staff and exposure to real‑world performance operations.
While this is a voluntary position supporting the lead sport scientist, this is a role that can grow as you grow, with potential for increased responsibility over time.
