We are currently looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, who will lead the production of the sportscotland’s annual statutory accounts for 2025/26, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.

As the Financial Accountant, you will have a good knowledge of current regulations and legislation in the areas of public sector accounting, audit and taxation.

You will be the key contact for external auditors, so you should be experienced in liaison with external auditors and audit team.

We are looking for someone with strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrable experience of preparing financial statements. You will be a professionally qualified accountant and must have good knowledge of IFRS and public sector accounting frameworks (e.g. FReM, SPFM).

This is six-month fixed term contract to support sportscotland in preparation and delivery of 2025/26 Financial Statements and audit. Our financial year-end is 31st March, and engagement will be for approximately 2-3 months in advance and 3-4 months post year-end.
