Badminton is the second biggest participation sport in the world and we already have well over 150,000 people regularly participating across the Scotland. Purpose of the role
The Engagement Committee represents a key part of the board’s focus and is responsible for interacting with Scotland’s badminton community, mainly via Badminton Scotland’s own development staff. A key priority of Badminton Scotland is to grow our membership by highlighting the benefits to players the length and breadth of the country and encouraging them to become part of our community.
In addition to Chairing the Engagement Committee and the general duties and responsibilities of a Director, you will:
- Provide input and challenge to strategic planning and decision-making of the board.
- Review the risk register and KPIs.
- Work with the Board, Chair, CEO and staff where appropriate to provide additional skills and expertise to fulfil our wider strategic plans.
- Participate or Chair such sub-committees of the Board or Appeals Panels as are deemed necessary and appropriate.
Person specification
Essential
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of corporate governance and board responsibilities,
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, teamworking, communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrable integrity and commitment to ethical standards.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the sport’s structures in Scotland and within the UK.
- Knowledge of working with under-represented groups
- Interest in Badminton
