Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ): Falkirk Council

We are looking for enthusiastic people with a variety of transferable skills and experiences to train as a swim teacher. It is not necessary to have a background in swimming to be a quality swim teacher. Our aim is to make lessons fun, enjoyable and to build a connection with children and adults. The Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) is the industry standard for those who want to teach unsupervised to groups of swimmers with a range of abilities. A practical based course, the SSTQ will allow you to gain the necessary skills and experience before you progress to an aquatics working environment. It will support your ongoing learning and development, ensuring that you are fully prepared to deliver high quality lessons. With flexible teaching hours to fit around your lifestyle, you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of a work-life balance whilst teaching an incredible and important life skill. Please note that to progress your development, shadowing our current swim teachers is a requirement of the course, as well as the attendance at all of the various course dates.

This course is partially funded with a high likelihood of gaining employment with Falkirk Council as a Swimming Teacher. Attendance at all course dates is compulsory. You should not enquire or apply if you cannot attend all dates. There is zero flexibility, and you must be able to attend on all dates that are listed overleaf. Due to a number of last-minute cancellations of places on previous courses, successful candidates must pay a nominal non-refundable fee of £100 to secure their place.
