The role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Academy department of Rangers Football Club as a Performance Coach leading the youth development and foundation phases.
The Performance coach will be responsible for all aspects of delivery within the youth development and foundation phases at Rangers Football Club Academy. The provision provided should be holistic, player centred and in line with the overall Academy and performance vison, with the aim of maximising players physical potential.
Key responsibilities
- The delivery and development of the performance strategy for the Rangers Football Club Academy U11-U15. Provision should be in line with both the Academy's and Club's strategic objectives and guided by the performance pillars which provide the platform for the physical development strategy. To lead and manage a team of practitioners, including studentships, to effectively deliver the performance strategy.
- The performance strategy should focus on the following areas :
- An age and stage specific physical training strategy designed to deliver the long-term development of elite physical capacities. This includes but is not limited to; gym and pitch-based programming and training, planning and periodisation of training, player tracking and monitoring. Physical performance and growth and maturation testing and the associated interpretation and reporting of results as required. Attending selected games and training camps (will include evenings and weekends).
- Individualised training programs to drive the development of our most promising players.
- Player performance education to maximise player development and performance. Holistic, age specific, education in key performance lifestyle principles.
- Coach education, support and development to provide insight, influence, support and educate key stakeholders. Support relevant feedback processes with players, coaches and medical staff for key decision making.
- Strategy alignment across teams and between multi-disciplinary departments. Develop strong relationships and collaboration. To support the general goals, environment and culture of the Academy.
The candidate
The candidate attributes include:
- MSc in Sport Science or related field. MSc desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years' in working within a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of Sports Science techniques.
- Relevant accreditation such as UKSCA or working towards is desirable.
- Engaging personality and able influencer with the ability to adapt to fresh challenges.
- Excellent communication skill both written and verbal with the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently to achieve all aspect of role is a pre requisite.
- Good team player, as well as ability to work on own initiative.
- Flexible approach to working hours is essential
