Aberdeenshire Council is looking to recruit a Sports Officer with a remit for Disability & Inclusion to create sporting and physical activity opportunities within the Aberdeenshire community.
You will have a relevant degree with the ability to report effectively and a commitment for continuous development to reach your potential. You will be passionate about the role and have a personality and enthusiasm that will allow you to develop and maximise opportunities for people with disabilities and other minority groups. You will be organised and motivated and have a compassion that will inspire partners and participants to get active and continue to be active.
You will also look to work with talented local people, governing bodies and local organisations and schools to develop a sustainable sports and leisure infrastructure for disabled and other minority groups. You will also be expected to contribute to the general development of sports and Active Lifestyle opportunities in Aberdeenshire, ensuring that the North East enjoys the benefits of the legacy opportunities generated through the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games and the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
This post has responsibility for and required to drive Aberdeenshire Council vehicles. The preferred candidate will be required to produce a current, valid driving licence. An offer of employment by Aberdeenshire Council will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory. The preferred candidate will also be required to produce their licence, on request, at periodic intervals.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007). The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where applicable, this post also requires an Overseas Criminal Record Check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
