Glasgow Life is looking for Sport and Physical Activity Coaches (Disability Swim) to join us in part time permanent contracts of up to 24 hours per week and/or bank positions. As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach you will be joining our in-demand Disability Learn to Swim programme and/or our Additional Support Needs (ASN) schools swimming programme. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports children and young people with a disability to be water confident and learn to swim safely.
As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach (Disability Swim) you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, playing your part in encouraging people to live an active Glasgow life. Through sport and physical activity, we promote inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city. From Glasgow Club to our Learn to Swim programmes, the services we provide allow people to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in sports at all levels.
The role
As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach (Disability Swim) you’ll be an integral part of the team by delivering and implementing a comprehensive learn to swim programme for people with a disability. Reporting to the Sport and Physical Activity Officer (Cohesion) and working alongside an established team of coaching staff.
If you’re interested in joining us as a Sport and Physical Activity Coach you’ll need:
- Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ) or equivalent
- Experience of working with people with a disability would be ideal but not essential
- Able to easily engage, communicate with and motivate people with a disability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work effectively in a team
Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations.
The ASN Schools Swimming Programme role has daytime shifts, and the Disability Learn to Swim programme takes place in the evenings and weekends. We are looking for candidates to work contracts of 24 hours that would cover both programmes, or 15 hours for the ASN programme only, or 9 hours for the Disability Learn to Swim programme only. The days and times for sessions on each programme can be discussed at interview.
