The Role

As Logistics Senior Manager, you will be at the heart of operations that keep the Games running smoothly. Reporting to the Director of Games Services and Workforce, you will lead the Logistics Functional Area (FA), overseeing the end-to-end planning, procurement, and delivery of all logistics services for Glasgow 2026.

This is a senior leadership role that combines strategic planning, supplier management, and hands-on operational delivery. You will scope, negotiate, and manage multiple contracts spanning freight forwarding, warehousing, distribution, venue logistics, and reverse logistics, ensuring every item – from sport equipment and workforce uniforms to catering supplies and technology kits – arrives where it’s needed, safely and on time.

You will also play a critical role in the post-Games decommissioning phase, managing asset recovery, sustainable disposal, and venue clear-down to leave a positive legacy.

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the behind-the-scenes success of a globally significant event, working alongside dedicated colleagues in a fast-paced, collaborative environment committed to operational excellence across Glasgow.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead and direct the Logistics Functional Area, recruiting and managing a high-performing team to deliver all logistics services for the Games. You will take a commercially pragmatic approach to procuring providers for warehousing, freight forwarding, distribution, customs, and venue logistics services, and ensure all contracts are robust, value-driven, and fit for purpose.

You will oversee the development of Games-time Furniture, Fittings and Equipment (FF&E) requirements, working with Functional Areas to audit venues and define final scopes of supply. You will lead the development of the Master Delivery Schedule and coordinate access protocols for deliveries to Games venues.

A core part of your role will be building strong relationships with delivery agencies, contractors, sponsors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate the smooth flow of materials and equipment between locations. You will support in-venue logistics planning and manual handling operations, ensuring materials handling equipment and resources are in place.

You will also work closely with Procurement and Finance to agree on the post-Games asset disposal strategy and oversee a safe, efficient, and sustainable reverse logistics programme.

Throughout, you will manage the logistics budget, maintain accurate records, and drive continuous improvement, ensuring all logistics operations uphold the highest standards of safety, accountability, and professionalism.

As Games planning progresses, you will adapt to evolving requirements and play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class event.

Key Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience in event logistics or operations support at a senior management level, with a proven track record of developing and delivering end-to-end logistics services and warehousing solutions.

You will have excellent negotiation and contract management skills, experience preparing tender documents and evaluating supplier proposals, and a comprehensive understanding of supply chains.

Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and confidence in using Microsoft Excel, stock systems, or delivery tracking tools are essential. You will also have experience managing logistics operations in high-profile environments with multiple delivery partners.

You should be able to demonstrate your ability to build effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders, lead and motivate teams, and work under pressure in fast-paced settings.

It would be an advantage if you have experience working in international multi-sport event logistics, familiarity with Games-time or venue-based operations, or higher education qualifications in logistics or supply chain management.
