About Glasgow Tigers AFC

Founded in 1986, the Glasgow Tigers are one of Scotland’s longest-established American football teams, competing in the British American Football Association (BAFA) National Leagues. The club is committed to promoting the growth of American football in Scotland, developing players of all levels, and engaging with the local community through sport.

To support our continued growth and enhance our digital presence, we are seeking a Volunteer Social Media Manager to manage and develop our online communications strategy.

Role Purpose

The Volunteer Social Media Manager will be responsible for planning, creating, and publishing engaging digital content to raise the profile of the Glasgow Tigers across multiple social media platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the club’s online voice, increasing audience engagement, and strengthening the Tigers’ brand identity.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual seeking to gain practical experience in social media management, sports marketing, or digital communications within a dynamic and ambitious amateur sports organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a social media content plan aligned with the club’s objectives and seasonal calendar.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and TikTok.
  • Promote team news, fixtures, results, player spotlights, and community initiatives through consistent and professional messaging.
  • Engage with online audiences by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Collaborate with players, coaching staff, and the committee to source content and highlight key stories.
  • Monitor social media performance and provide basic insights or recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in social media and digital marketing.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong written communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and basic understanding of social media strategies.
  • Organised and self-motivated, able to manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and visual presentation.

Desirable:

  • Experience using content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Express, or similar).
  • Previous experience managing social media accounts (personal, professional, or volunteer-based).
  • Interest in sport, particularly American football, and a willingness to attend occasional games or events.
