The role

Our built environment and the end users require the Facilities Department to keep them safe, compliant and to create the very best environment in which they can thrive. We are looking for a Multi-skilled Operative with a can-do attitude and a dedicated methodical approach with the very best in standards to join our Facilities team.

The Multi-skilled Operative is a prime operational position that assists in ensuring the smooth running of the Facilities at Rangers Football Club with the seamless delivery of maintenance services to all sites, departments and building users. The role will support the Facilities Supervisor and Hard Services Manager in the provision of all general maintenance and hard services performing a variety of tasks, ranging from planned maintenance, installation works, reactive breakdowns, ad hoc repairs, seat removal and installation, minor project works, and general handyman duties as required. We are looking for an operative who is versatile and has broad experience within building maintenance and can maintain all plant and equipment in line with Rangers Football Club requirements, legislative regulations and guidelines. Match day/night working will be required.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works to meet SLA and KPI targets.
  • Carry out internal and external building fabric maintenance, including joinery, tiling, painting, light groundwork, and minor substructure repairs.
  • Undertake refurbishment projects and office relocations as required.
  • Complete the removal and installation of seating across the stadium.
  • Conduct pre- and post-match safety checks to ensure facility readiness and compliance.
  • Carry out inspections of plant, equipment, roofs, fabrics, and cladding, maintaining accurate records.
  • Respond to emergency callouts as part of the out-of-hours rota.
  • Ensure all work complies with current safety certification, Health & Safety regulations, and L8 compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, repairs, and statutory compliance checks.
  • Lead building fabric stock management, including ordering, storage, and distribution of parts.
  • Support colleagues across trades, sharing skills and providing operational support to sub-contractors on site.
  • Undertake general facilities support tasks such as furniture assembly/removals, site clearance, and keeping work areas clean and tidy.
  • Complete minor scheduled maintenance on plant, fabric, and equipment.
  • Assist with planned maintenance and reporting using the CAFM system.
  • Carry out basic plumbing and drainage works, including water testing, minor WC/tap repairs, and unblocking drains.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as required by the management team.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of the Facilities team

Normal hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30 with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Matchday working is also required and successful applicant will be required to join the out of hours on call rota. 

A uniform will be supplied by the Club and should be maintained to a high standard by the employee.

The candidate

Job Knowledge 

  • Previous experience within a similar FM role
  • Previous experience in carrying out general maintenance work. (Joinery bias preferred)
  • Knowledge and awareness and L8 Spa and pool operation and compliance (Preferred)
  • Strong safety and quality-driven mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork

Education & Qualifications

  • Completed a relevant apprenticeship (Desirable)
  • Full UK Driver’s licence
  • Willingness to complete relevant training to support duties

Personal Attributes

Confident, reliable individual with good communications skills both verbal and written are required. Ability to self-motivate and complete all tasks required within time allocations.
