Volunteer cycling coach and trainees positions
Would you like to help develop young cyclists? Are you keen to pass on the love you have for cycling to those just starting their cycling journey? Do you want to pass on your knowledge to those with obvious talent and a passion to succeed? For over 15 years Glasgow Riderz has helped children and youths to progress from beginner to whatever level they want, including elite competition. We’re always looking to grow our coaching team to ensure we can continue to develop youth cyclists across Glasgow and keep up with the increases in demand for the nation’s fastest growing sport. Glasgow Riderz currently offers weekly sessions at a number of locations; Bellahouston Park, Cathkin Braes, Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, and Glasgow BMX Centre. We’d like to start sessions at new locations, and continue to develop our coaches to cover the specific disciplines we offer – mountain bike, road, track, cyclocross and BMX. We coach youths aged 6-16yrs in the basics of cycling and then develop their skills and experience in the above disciplines.
You don’t have to be especially fit or skilled at cycling. What we need are dynamic, enthusiastic individuals with some experience of working with children. We’ll support you in your development pathway: from assisting existing coaches to eventually delivering your own sessions, and you’ll gain nationally recognised qualifications from British Cycling. If you have any coaching experience or qualifications already it would be great, and it doesn’t need to be cycling-specific. The roles are all voluntary, incredibly rewarding, and fully supported to achieve the required qualifications. You’ll also receive Endura clothing and equipment necessary for the role. All work with children and young adults is regulated work, hence all our volunteers complete the PVG process through Disclosure Scotland, supported by our club Wellbeing and Protection Officer.
