What sport are you involved in and what is it that you love about it?
I am involved in netball inside and outside of school and I love the ability to work in a team with my closest friends all working towards the same goal of winning the game. This also keeps me motivated to always play my best and give my all, every time I step on the court.
What motivated you to be part of the Young People’s Sport Panel?
I am motivated to be part of the Young People’s Sport Panel as it gives me a platform where my voice can make a difference. The panel also engages in improving sport as a whole throughout Scotland, which I am passionate about. Ultimately my goal is to make sport accessible to everyone in Scotland no matter their age, background or lifestyle and I believe that being part of the panel makes it a reality.
How do you think sport can help support young people in Scotland?
I think sport helps develop young people in Scotland as well as developing the physical aspect of sport, it also develops young people socially, mentally and emotionally. I believe that sport can develop young people a whole person and not just in an active way.
Is there a role model who inspires you? What is it about them that you admire?
My role model is my mum because I am the person I am today because of her sacrifice and love throughout my whole life. My mum has always been my biggest supporter and has cheered me on at everything I do (including being on the panel!) I think her encouragement has helped me to be more proactive and I am extremely grateful to her. Overall, I have so much love and respect for my mum and don’t know what I would do without her.
