What sport are you involved in and what do you love about it?
I have been involved in many sports from a young age however, football has always been my favourite. I have played for many teams across central Scotland and are currently playing for my university football club. Currently I coach football this is extremely rewarding as I coach children from eighteen months old meaning you get to see them develop and create a love of the game as they grow older. Football has allowed me to develop lifelong friendships with girls who have similar interests.
What motivated you to be a part of the Young People's Sport Panel?
I’ve had a range of different sporting experiences however, there are areas of the sporting culture that I have had no experience in. Being a part of the YPSP means we are given a lot of different opportunities in lots of different areas. I am currently studying PE teaching at university so being able to take these opportunities will better prepare me for the range of different personalities and needs that the children I teach will have.
Is there a role model who inspires you? What is it about them you admire?
My papa is my role model, he reached the 1976 Olympic 1500m final and then went on to work as a Sports Development Officer for Glasgow City Council however, my papa would tell you that his life away from sport is his biggest achievement. My papa has five daughters and seventeen grandchildren, who his life revolves around. His kind and selfless personality is what I admire most about him. He has very heavily influenced my life and if it wasn’t for him I potentially wouldn’t have chosen the career and hobbies I have.
