Glasgow Life is looking for an PMO and Governance Manager to join us on a 35hour full time, fixed term contract for a period up to December 2028. As PMO and Governance Manager you will be joining our in-demand Events team. You will be part of a dedicated project team which supports the delivery of Glasgow's host city commitments to Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and UEFA EURO 2028 and works closely with the wider events team and organisation in planning.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile annual events, including the Merchant City Festival, Glasgow Mela, the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow's winter events. We also deliver one-off major events and programmes, most recently delivering the World Athletics Indoors Championships 2024, the inaugural 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and European Capital of Sport 2023, with planning underway to host Glasgow 2026 and UEFA EURO 2028.

Our team are the initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the economic, marketing and social benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination boosting the city's tourism profile, while driving positive impacts and legacies for local communities.

The role

As PMO and Governance Manager, you'll be an integral part of the Events team and support the city's delivery of two of the world's biggest sporting events - the Commonwealth Games 2026 and UEFA EURO 2028.

We're looking for a highly organised and strategic thinker to lead programme governance, risk management and project oversight for Glasgow Life's commitments to these major events. Based within our award-winning Events team, you'll help shape the planning frameworks, ensuring progress tracking and support coordination with key partners, including Glasgow City Council. The role will report to the Senior Events Lead (Projects) and will work alongside both an established and a new project team.

The candidate

If you're interested in joining us as an PMO and Governance Manager, you'll need:

  • Experience with project governance methodologies and their application in an operational Event delivery environment.
  • Experience of successful project delivery for a multi-sport and / or multi venue major sports event.
  • Experience of project governance and management tools and software.
  • Experience and ability to communicate and work in partnership with multiple stakeholders to understand expectations and be able to deliver against agreed service levels.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
