Job Title: Kitchen & Dining Room Assistant

Reports to: Lead Performance Chef

Location: Oriam - Scotland's Sports Performance Centre, Edinburgh, EH14 4AS

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 5/7 days per week which will include weekends. Earliest start time 8am, and latest finish time 6pm.

Closing Date: 12 May 2025 (close of play)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen & Dining Room Assistant to work within our performance kitchen team based at Oriam. The Kitchen & Dining Room Assistant will play a key role in facilitating the smooth operation of our performance kitchen and dining room area used by staff and players based at the training ground. Our dining room area is one of the social hubs of the training ground, and the role holder will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and relaxing environment.

If you are highly motivated, passionate about working with and supporting professional footballers and have previous experience of working in a similar role within a kitchen environment we would like to hear from you. We are looking for someone with an open and friendly attitude, with the ability to build rapport with staff and players. The successful candidate will be joining a team of forward-thinking and ambitious staff who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all kitchen and cooking equipment, storerooms, and the dining area are cleaned and sanitised on a regular basis. This includes clearing glassware, silverware, and crockery from tables.
  • Transporting food orders from the kitchen to the appropriate location (e.g., buffet style chaffing dishes or to specific individuals seated at a table).
  • Liaise with chefs regarding any special or specific requests from players and staff.
  • Assist performance chefs with basic food preparation tasks upon request.
  • Unloading and appropriate storing of food deliveries.
  • Deep cleaning of fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of staff, ranging from the wider performance team, operational staff, and coaches.
  • On occasion, collect wholesale cash and carry orders including items such as sports drinks, cereal bars and other similar match day consumables on behalf of the club.
  • Any other reasonable activities requested by the Lead Performance Chef or Head of Performance.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of working within a professional catering/kitchen environment.
  • Level 1 certificate in food and beverage service/food preparation or equivalent (Desirable).
  • Food hygiene/safety qualification (Desirable).
  • Maintain up to date UKAD Clean Sport Advisor qualification.
  • Flexibility with weekly working patterns, weekend work will be required.
  • Full UK driving license (Desirable).
  • Able to evidence Legal Right to Work in the UK.
