Report to: Head of Innovation Centre

Location: Tynecastle Park, Gorgie Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2NL and regional outreach travel.

Salary: Competitive salary plus excellent staff benefits.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 5/7 days per week. Occasional weekend and evening working required.

Heart of Midlothian FC have an exciting opportunity for a STEM and Digital Learning Lead to join the Clubs Innovation Centre. The STEM and Digital Learning Lead will design, deliver, and evaluate creative STEM and digital learning programmes that inspire young people and communities to explore technology, innovation, and problem-solving. Our Innovation Centre provides a unique range of Digital Education programmes that inspires young people to develop vital digital skills for the future whilst using technology creatively for a purpose. Working in partnership with delivery partners, schools, and leaders in industry, we use the power and reach of football to attract and engage learners.

STEM and Digital Learning Lead Responsibilities:

  • Learning Content Development
  • Create engaging STEM and digital learning resources, including robotics, coding, engineering, and creative technology activities.
  • Recommend and integrate technologies to enhance programme experiences.
  • Programme Delivery
  • Provide leadership on STEM programmes, including after-school clubs, workshops, and community-based learning sessions, creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Mapping to National Frameworks and Awards
  • Align programme content with recognised award pathways and support participants in achieving accreditation or award milestones, such as Young STEM Leader, Duke of Edinburgh, and CREST Awards.
  • Outreach and Engagement
  • Deliver outreach sessions in schools and community settings, occasionally involving regional travel.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with teachers, youth organisations, and local partners.
  • Represent the Innovation Centre at education, STEM, and community engagement events.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
  • Develop and use feedback tools such as surveys and digital trackers to measure programme reach and impact to inform continuous improvement and sponsor reporting.
  • Funding and Strategic Support
  • Assist with grant applications, funding reports, and related project documentation.
  • Contribute creative ideas to the Innovation Centre's evolving strategy.

Experience, Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in STEM or digital learning delivery for young people (ages 8-18).
  • Understanding of curriculum design or learning strategies (Desirable).
  • Experience working with award schemes e.g., Young STEM Leader, Duke of Edinburgh, CREST (Desirable).
  • Familiarity with Scotland's STEM education and digital inclusion landscape (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation or impact measurement (Desirable).
  • Experience contributing to funding applications or project reporting (Desirable).
  • Able to evidence the legal right to work in the UK.

  • Strong interest in technology, innovation, and creative learning.
  • Ability to design and adapt engaging, hands-on activities and resources.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to engage learners, educators, and community groups.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work in a dynamic, agile environment where priorities and opportunities evolve.
  • Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and safeguarding.
