Cricket Scotland is seeking a Senior Events & Projects Managerto lead the planning, delivery, and strategic development of our diverse portfolio of cricket and sporting events.
Role Overview
This is a high-profile role requiring a versatile, hands-on leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels. You will have autonomy to shape and deliver events while working within a collaborative framework for key decisions.You will lead cross-functional project teams, drive operational and commercial outcomes, and ensure events are delivered safely, professionally, and to the highest standard. This role combines strategic thinking, project leadership, financial acumen, and hands-on delivery skills.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee the development and maintenance of Cricket Scotland’s annual events calendar, working with department leads and encompassing international fixtures, domestic cricket finals, Annual Awards Night, and other events to grow the game and generate revenue.
- Seek hosting opportunities, review and respond to Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for hosting International Cricket Council (ICC) events.
- Lead cross functional teams across the various events ensuring all events are delivered safely on time and within budget to the highest standard.
- Work with the CEO as required in the development of activities around GB Cricket and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2030.
- Act as the lead project manager for the European T20 Premier League to ensure Cricket Scotland optimises its opportunities through this exciting project, working closely with the Cricket Operations Manager who will lead on all sport matters.
Operational Delivery
- Lead and deliver the end-to-end planning and delivery of all events within the portfolio, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Implement procurement processes and oversee supplier contract management. Ensure appropriate insurance cover and liability management.
- Manage cross-functional project teams including Cricket Operations, Commercial, Finance, Communications, Domestic Cricket, Development and other relevant functions to support planning and delivery of each event.
- Support the Performance team in planning and delivery of Regional Cricket.
- Plan and deliver conferences and events such as the Scottish Cricket Awards, Annual General Meeting, and one-off conferences and other events as agreed.
- Ensure all events comply ICC regulations, safety regulations, Local Authority guidelines, and sporting event standards along with safeguarding policies, anti-doping requirements and equality standards.
- Ensure all events enhance the Cricket Scotland brand and deliver exceptional fan, participant and stakeholder experience.
- Oversee event presentation standards including branding, broadcast integration and match-day experience.
- Ensure all events are accessible and inclusive.
Financial & Project Management
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Monitor financial performance of events, engaging with the Commercial & Partnerships Manager to optimise commercial opportunities and revenue generation.
- Maintain event plans, risk registers and mitigation strategies for all events.
- Report on each project delivered to ensure transfer of knowledge, key learnings and recommendations for future.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, International Cricket Council, sport scotland, domestic regions and clubs, commercial partners and local authorities.
- Act as a credible representative of Cricket Scotland at high-profile events and stakeholder meetings.

Key Relationships
The Senior Events Manager will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful planning, delivery, and strategic development of Cricket Scotland’s events portfolio. Key relationships include:
Internal
- Chief Executive Officer – strategic alignment, decision-making, and delivery of high-profile and priority events.
- Performance, Pathway and Domestic cricket team members – coordination of international and domestic cricket activity, including fixtures and sporting requirements to deliver the events in the events calendar.
- Commercial & Partnerships Manager – sponsorship delivery, partner engagement, and revenue generation opportunities
- Finance team – budget planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control
- Communications team – event promotion, media activity, and stakeholder communications
- Club Services and Development teams – alignment with participation, growth, and community objectives
- Wider cross-functional project teams assembled on an event-by-event basis
External
- International Cricket Council (ICC) – engagement on international fixtures and event opportunities.
- sport scotland – liaison on strategic and funded events.
- Domestic regions, leagues, and clubs – coordination of national and domestic competitions.
- Commercial partners and sponsors – delivery of contractual and relationship commitments at events.
- Local authorities, venues, and regulatory bodies – permissions, safety, and operational compliance.
- Event suppliers and contractors – delivery of operational services and infrastructure.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven event delivery experience preferably through major sporting events, ideally in cricket or related sports.
- Strong financial acumen, project planning, and risk management skills.
- Hands-on experience managing indoor and outdoor events, with knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with autonomy, while escalating key decisions when required.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Cricket knowledge preferred but not essential; passion for sport and event delivery critical.

Hours of Work
You will work an average of 37.5 hours per week within this role. While standard office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, the nature of the role requires a high degree of flexibility. Evening and weekend working will be required to support event delivery.
Place of Work
This role is based in Scotland, and the successful candidate will be required to live and work here, and be able to travel throughout Scotland to support event delivery.
