The Role:

We have a unique and exciting opportunity available to join the team as Director of Games Services. This role will place you at the heart of the action, working alongside experts to deliver a global event that sets the new standard for major sporting celebrations.

The Director of Games Services is a senior appointment, leading the Organising Company’s Games Services department. This is a key function sitting within the Operations Division of Glasgow 2026.

You will be responsible for the strategic planning, management, and delivery of all centrally delivered games service functions as well as overseeing all Glasgow 2026 workforce operations. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Glasgow 2026 services, including accommodation, transportation, logistics, accreditation, and volunteering. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership, Commonwealth Sport, Event Delivery Partners, games-wide suppliers and key stakeholders to deliver a world-class experience for all participants, workforce, and spectators.

A key responsibility for this role will lead workforce planning and operations for the OC and support the integration and assurance of Event Delivery Partner workforce plans, develop the volunteering strategy and programme, and implement cross-organisational workforce principles and training packages. You will also be the primary contract manager for a series of Games critical central services suppliers, providing assurance and overseeing change control.

Key Skills and Experience: 

We are looking for a Director of Games Services who has proven experience in the planning and delivery of central services or leading a key delivery function for a multi-venue major global sporting event. You should also have a strong understanding of large-scale workforce planning and deployment.

Key attributes include being an excellent communicator, thriving in a fast-paced environment, and being a strong leader and team player.  

In addition, the successful candidate should be able to build strong, meaningful relationships with key stakeholders and demonstrate strong operational and technical planning skills.
