Coach: Stirling University Netball Club (SUNC)

Stirling University Netball Club (SUNC) are a passionate club of Netballers made up of over 140 members, including 5 BUCS teams, as well as a socials team of over 50 members. As a club, we are committed to promoting player development and competitive success. We strive to foster an environment in which all members feel valued and empowered by one another. 
 
Being the largest women’s club, and second largest club at Stirling University, we are eager to welcome an enthusiastic and dedicated coach to support and enhance our club’s performance by providing guidance and training. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating and mentoring individuals with an engaging coaching style. We are seeking a lead 1s and 2s coach. These athletes compete in BUCS Scottish Tier 2A and 5A.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and run training sessions – deliver effective training programmes, focusing on players’ skills, fitness and tactical understanding of the game. 
  • Coach teams – lead teams during matches by providing strategic feedback. 
  • Player development – nurture player’s strengths and areas for improvement by providing constructive mentorship. 
  • Team management – support a positive team environment by encouraging teamwork and discipline amongst players. 
  • Collaboration – work closely with other coaches, players and committee members to ensure cohesion. 

Requirements:

  • Coaching certification – Level 2 or working towards a Level 2 qualification is preferred, but applications are also open to those with a Level 1 qualification.
  • Skills – strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge – significant Netball knowledge of techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Motivate – ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential.

Pay (£12 per hour) covers:

  • Training sessions.
  • An additional hour per training session for session preparation.
  • Attendance at matches (including virtual attendance). 

Training schedule (all Stirling University based):

Week 1:
Monday 7:00-9:00 AM.
Thursday 19:30-20:45 PM.
 
Week 2:
Tuesday 7:00-9:00 AM.
Thursday 20:45-22:00 PM.
 
Week 1 layout, week 2 layout etc. 
 
Training will run from September 23rd until the end of March, with a week off in October and March and a 3-week break at Christmas. 
 
SUNC matches take place on Saturdays.
