Director of Swimming: Carnegie Swimming Club

Location: Dunfermline

Job Type: Contract for services

Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week

Closing Date: 14th February

As we approach our 150th birthday, we want to build on our proud heritage with an ambitious plan to be one of the top swimming clubs in Scotland, known for developing the best coaches, volunteers and swimmers in the country.

Carnegie Swimming Club was established in 1877 and is a friendly and welcoming club with a long history of success. The club currently has over 260 members, aged from 4 to 67, across 13 squads from improvers, starting out on their swimming journey, to those competing at para, district, national and British levels.

Inclusion is an integral part of our community and ethos and the club offers a balanced development pathway to allow swimmers of all abilities to reach their full potential. The club has an active community of parents and carers that support the club’s activities and we continue to develop the capabilities of our volunteers.

From these solid foundations Carnegie Swimming Club has an ambition to be one of the top Swimming Clubs in Scotland, attracting the best swimmers and the best swimming workforce,
increasing the number of swimmers that qualify for National and International championships and achieve national caps.

To spearhead that effort we want to appoint a passionate, energetic, inspiring and committed swimming leader. Our Director of Swimming will provide services to guide our long-term aquatic strategy, to mentor and support the education of our committed team of coaches, provide an environment for every swimmer to reach their potential, and to identify and deliver commercial opportunities to make the club financially sustainable.

The Director of Swimming will also oversee the coordination and development of the coaching team, and work with the Executive Committee to deliver a robust club development plan to build success at all levels. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to bring their ideas and experience to a historic, yet ambitious club, to break through to the next level.

A candidate with the right ambition may also want to combine this role with the role of Performance Coach which we are also looking to recruit.
