Hours & Salary  Zero hours contract, £12.00 per hour.

Normal shifts available on weekday mornings (07:30 start) and afternoons (15:00 start Monday to Thursday, 12:00 start Friday’s), with some split shifts available. Days and timings subject to change depending on the Academy training and matchday schedule. Shifts available during school term, no requirement during school holidays.

Heart of Midlothian Football Club is a Scottish Premiership Football Club based in Edinburgh with Elite Academy Status. The Club are looking to recruit an Academy Transport Driver, who will be responsible for supporting the transport needs of Academy players attending the Balerno School Programme, and any other transport requirements of the Academy operation. The role involves ensuring the safe and secure travel of young Academy players, always driving Academy transport vehicles in a responsible and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe and secure travel of young players to and from Balerno Performance School, transport hubs and the Academy based at Oriam, using the Academy transport vehicles.
  • Meeting the needs of any other Academy transport requirements, as and when required.
  • Refueling Academy transport vehicles when required, ensuring appropriate receipt of transactions.
  • Reporting any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and/or accidents to the Head of Academy Operations and Academy Kit Manager at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Assist in any other related duties that may be required by the Head of Academy Operations, Academy Manager, or any other senior Academy staff member.

Essential Requirements & Experience:

  • A full clean driving licence which permits the driving of a minibus (D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence or D1)
  • You must be at least 25 years of age and have held a full licence for at least two years as per Government guidance and insurance requirements.
  • Previous experience of working with youths.
  • Currently based in Edinburgh or can reliably commute to Oriam/Balerno and other locations as per the needs of the position.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong work ethic with a passion for football.
  • Excellent timekeeping and the ability to manage own time effectively.
  • A high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.

The role will have regular contact with children, and it is therefore required by law to have a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check through Disclosure Scotland as a condition of employment.
