Tranent Amateur Swimming Club: Lead Entry Coach

Tranent Amateur Swimming Club (TASC) are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our coaching team as a Lead Entry Coach.

We are a competitive club based in East Lothian who work with children joining the club from Learn to Swim pathways and helping them progress through to District level while also helping swimmers achieve entry to East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) working through to National level. Our aim is to ensure that each individual swimmer receives the coaching attention they need to help them continually progress their skills and technique across all strokes.

We will be looking for the successful applicant to lead both our Club Entry squads (Skill Development and Bronze Squad). As the first Lead Coach for many of our swimmers joining the club, we are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic individual to help these swimmers enjoy their first steps into club swimming.

As part of this role you will be expected to:

  • Work with the Head Coach to ensure swimmers are entering the club at correct level, deliver appropriate training, and ensure that swimmers continue to progress in both squads.
  • Work with our volunteer coaches to ensure sessions are delivered at the highest standard, demonstrating good communication and leadership skills.
  • Develop positive working relationships with both swimmers and parents to ensure understanding and commitment to developing correct approach and mindset to training.
  • Attend competitions when swimmers within squads are involved.

It is essential that candidates fulfil the following criteria:

  • Qualified as a UKCC Level 2 Coach or working towards achieving this qualification.
  • Hold NPLQ or NRA qualification or be prepared to work towards achieving this qualification.

The following criteria is desired in applying candidates, but not essential:

  • As you will be working with club entry swimmers who have just completed a learn to swim pathway, a teaching qualification and experience in delivering swimming lessons would be helpful.

The role will include 4 hours of training time and will also include admin time. Remuneration will be dependent on experience.
