Role: Tennis Development Officer
Location: Stirling
Salary: £27,116 - £33,309 p.a.
Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (12 months)

The University of Stirling is one of the leading tennis institutions at Scottish, British and European university level. The role will contribute to the development of a comprehensive student workforce development strategy that identifies, trains, continually develops and deploys aspiring students across a broad spectrum of volunteering roles within tennis. The role will also ensure that a high level of coaching delivery is experienced by competitive players within the University of Stirling Tennis Club.

Description of Duties

  • Lead and coordinate meaningful development opportunities for those involved/interested in Coaching, Tennis Centre Management, Tennis Development, Officiating and Marketing & Communications pathways. Building strong relationships to drive and develop opportunities internally and externally (local community and nationally) including County, Regional and National LTA
  • Identify and plan relevant workshops, continued professional development (CPD) sessions and qualifications where appropriate
  • Promote the tennis project and student development pathways; identifying and recruiting students who may be interested in careers in tennis or developing skills through tennis
  • Act as a mentor for identified individuals involved with development opportunities
  • Embrace the tennis team values and embed this culture within the student workforce 
  • Work proactively to identify a quality ‘tennis workforce’
  • Support with the delivery of enjoyable, structured and progressive sports coaching sessions at the correct level and standard for members of the tennis programme
  • Attend matches and competitions as appropriate 
  • Assist with the promotion of the tennis programmes to prospective students. This will include attending open days and assisting with player visits and communications
  • Work closely with the student volunteers on the University of Stirling Tennis Club committee to ensure the effective operation of the club
  • Support the University of Stirling Tennis Club trials process and identification/selection of players
  • Develop good working partnerships with partners ay Tennis Scotland and LTA to enhance the opportunities available to students
  • Provide regular information and statistics on the progress and status of individuals and teams within the tennis programme
  • Provide individual feedback and development plans to players, coaches and volunteers within the programme
  • Record attendance at all training sessions, matches and events
  • Promote and uphold University values through personal example and working practices
  • Act as an advocate for the University of Stirling Sport by maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly and professional approach to service users
  • Provide first aid where required and ensure the reporting of incidents and accidents is carried out in accordance with University procedures
