Swimming Teacher / Class Lead: £15.00–£17.50 per hour
Lifeguard and Lesson Support: £14.00–£15.50 per hour

Stepping Stones Swimming is one of Scotland’s leading private learn-to-swim providers. We deliver high-quality, low-ratio swimming lessons for children and are looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join our Edinburgh teaching and support team.
Swimming Teacher / Class Lead
Our swimming teachers are responsible for delivering safe and engaging lessons using the Stepping Stones weekly framework. Teachers help swimmers build confidence, develop their skills and progress through our programme.
Class Lead applicants should hold a recognised National Governing Body swimming teaching qualification, including SSTQ, UKCC, STA or ASA.
The role includes:
Delivering safe, enjoyable and engaging swimming lessons
Supporting the development and progression of every swimmer
Assessing swimmers and providing feedback when required
Communicating effectively with families, colleagues and the Stepping Stones office
Providing consistency by committing to regular weekly classes
Lifeguard and Lesson Support
Our lesson support team helps ensure that sessions run safely and smoothly. Depending on the venue, responsibilities may include welcoming families, coordinating swimmers poolside, supporting teachers and helping families enter and navigate the venue.
Applicants for lifeguarding duties should hold one of the following:
National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
STA International Pool Lifeguard qualification
A swimming teaching qualification would be beneficial but is not essential for lesson-support applicants.
These are employed positions with Stepping Stones Swimming. Benefits include an allocated holiday allowance, payroll managed directly by Stepping Stones and no requirement to complete self-assessment for this employment.
