Shawlands Shuttles Badminton Club - Volunteer Coaches and Helpers

Shawlands Shuttles Badminton Club is looking for friendly, reliable people to help keep our club running smoothly and to support players of all levels on court.

  • General Club Helpers; We're after people to help with the everyday running of the club, including:

  • Setting up and packing away nets, posts, and equipment before and after sessions

  • Welcoming members and new players, helping them feel at home

  • Assisting with membership sign-ups, payments, and session sign-in

  • Helping organise social events, tournaments, and club nights

  • General odd jobs to keep sessions running smoothly

No badminton experience necessary — just a willingness to pitch in and be part of a great club community.

Badminton Coaches; We're also looking for coaches to help develop players across different age groups and abilities, including:

  • Planning and delivering fun, structured coaching sessions

  • Supporting beginners with the basics of footwork, technique, and rules

  • Helping more experienced players sharpen their game

  • Encouraging good sportsmanship and a positive club atmosphere

  • Working alongside other coaches and club organisers

  • Coaching qualifications (e.g. Badminton Scotland coaching awards) are a bonus but not always essential — enthusiasm and playing experience count for a lot too.

Perks and Benefits

  • Financial support to gain coaching qualifications

  • A chance to be part of a friendly, active local club

  • Flexible commitment depending on your availability

  • The satisfaction of helping others enjoy the sport
