Scottish Curling: Independent Director and Chair of the Board

The Royal Caledonian Curling Club, trading as Scottish Curling, is seeking applications from two individuals to fill volunteer vacancies on the board for a non-executive Independent Director and a non-executive Chair of the Board.

The RCCC was established in 1838 and is the governing body for the sport of curling in Scotland. It has 10,000 members in 500 clubs that play in 21 ice rinks, spread all over Scotland. It has responsibility for the sport from beginners to national teams and for all ages and all abilities. The organisation has an annual turnover of around £1m and employs 14 staff members. The board currently has a broad mix of skills among the directors. Any applicant for these positions should possess general business skills, have experience in developing and monitoring strategies and an understanding of good governance principles. For the Independent Director role, the board are particularly keen to receive applications from people with legal skills and experience. For the Chair role, candidates should have effective skills in leadership, managing senior staff, business, risk and governance. This is open for Scottish Curling members as well as for people outwith the organisation and the sport.

These roles are not paid and are for an initial term of three years. The Independent Director position would commence from June 2022 while the Chair would commence after the RCCC Annual General Meeting on 20 August 2022.
