Community Basketball Coach / Roadshow Coordinator

Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) are currently recruiting new sessional basketball coaches and sessional roadshow coordinators to join their exciting and vibrant team. These coaches/coordinators will help deliver the highly successful Jump2it programme.

Job Responsibilities

Jump2it Basketball Community Coaches

Community Coaches will deliver 6 weeks of coaching to schools to develop fundamental skills in the run up to a tournament. These sessions focus on enjoyment, basic basketball skills and incorporates key lifestyle messages throughout the programme.

In addition to our school programme, coaches will also have the opportunity to work at our Rocks Community Clubs (RCC) throughout Glasgow. These are usually within a school or community hall between 3pm and 5pm. The RCC’s provide children in the community the opportunity to form their own club with pupils from other schools in the area. Children are also given the opportunity to take part in competitions against other RCCs in the area.

Location: Various schools in Glasgow and South Lanarkshire
Day/Time: Flexible hours – most sessions take place daytimes Monday - Friday (occasional weekend work offered)
Pay: £10.20 including holiday pay

Jump2it Roadshow Coordinator

Roadshow Coordinators will be responsible for transporting Glasgow Rocks players and kit to and from the school venues. They will coordinate at the roadshows, being in charge of setting up all of the appropriate equipment and ensuring effective delivery of all aspects of the Jump2it Roadshow - including managing the timings and moving of each group of children around the different stations.

The roadshows are designed to educate children on the dangers of alcohol and smoking whilst promoting the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating. The combination of classroom learning, and active participation provides children aged 9 to 12 years old with the information they require to make a positive lifestyle decisions.

Location: Various Schools in Glasgow/ South Lanarkshire/ Falkirk
Day/Time: Flexible hours - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons
Pay: £10.20 including holiday pay

Job Requirements

Any interested coaches will require the following as a minimum requirement:

  • UKCC Level One Basketball Coaching
  • Flexibility to work various hours between 9-5 pm weekdays
  • Basic understanding of basketball
  • Previous coaching experience

Any interested coordinators will require the following as a minimum requirement:

  • A full clean driving license (minimum 1 year driving experience)
  • Flexibility to work afternoon hours (Tuesday - Thursday)
  • Effective communication, time management and organisational skills

All successful applicants will be subject to a PVG check.

This job is sessional, and therefore there is no minimum working hours are guaranteed every week.

If applicant meets all requirements, you would need to be available for a training day, which will take place on Thursday 15th August 2019.
