External Relations Director: RYA Scotland

Boating in Scotland has a challenge;

Our community don’t know what RYA Scotland does and some say:

“You only do dinghies and racing,” “It’s all top end performance,” “Actually even though I’m a member, I have no idea what you really do!”

In reality RYA Scotland works across a diverse and energetic range of boating related activity ensuring that participants are safe, gain new skills and are frequently rewarded through the adventure and freedom the waters of Scotland allow.

If you are passionate about communication and networking, we are looking for a new member of our board of directors who can help shape our plans for the future, who can drive some key areas of the organisation forward and to help us reach out to new partners to build a greater understand of the work of RYA Scotland.

The voluntary role of Director of External Relations is open to applicants who wish to bring their experience help to promote the governing body of boating in Scotland and keep this highly respected body moving forward.

You do not need to have any boating experience. You do not need to have experience on a board.

You do need a background in communications and some fresh ideas.

We are passionate about equality, we are the only body in Scotland to hold the Sport Councils Advanced Equality Standard. We have a focus on engaging women in sailing, disability is no barrier to participation and we are pushing ourselves toward the LGBT Youth Scotland Charter, so when we say we welcome applications from all – we really mean it!

The best way to find out more about this opportunity is to speak to James Allan the CEO.

Call him on 0131 317 7388
