St Leonards School is seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Director of Rugby to lead rugby provision across both St Leonards School and St Leonards Madras Blues & Reds Rugby Club.

St Leonards Madras Blues & Reds Rugby Club is a community focused club committed to developing rugby players of all abilities within a safe, enjoyable and challenging environment. The programme supports both boys’ and girls’ rugby pathways from U13 to U18 level, with aspirations to compete regularly in Schools Conference and Cup competitions while continuing to strengthen participation and player development across the local community.

The Director of Rugby will provide strategic leadership and operational management for rugby delivery across the school and club. The successful candidate will oversee coaching programmes, games based learning, competitive fixtures, player development and volunteer support, helping to build a positive and inclusive rugby culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering rugby based games lessons within St Leonards School and Madras High School

  • Leading and managing Tuesday and Thursday training programmes

  • Organising and coordinating fixtures and competitions

  • Managing, mentoring and developing coaches and volunteers

  • Supporting player progression and long term athlete development

  • Building strong relationships with school, club and community stakeholders

  • Overseeing administration and reporting linked to rugby programmes

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Significant rugby coaching experience across youth or school sport

  • Experience in a senior leadership or head coaching role

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • A commitment to inclusive participation and player development

  • The ability to inspire players, staff and volunteers within a positive team culture

Experience within schools or educational sport settings would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of the local rugby landscape and youth development pathways.
