Organisational Overview:
Basketball Scotland is the national governing body for the sport of basketball in Scotland. Established in 1947, the organisation provides leadership, governance, and strategic direction for the development of basketball at all levels across the country. It works closely with clubs, athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and partner organisations to grow participation and deliver positive experiences through the sport.
Based in Edinburgh, Basketball Scotland oversees national competitions, pathways, and development programmes, and manages Scotland’s national basketball teams for men and women. The organisation also plays a key role in talent development and elite performance, contributing to the wider Great Britain basketball pathway in partnership with the home nations.
Basketball Scotland’s purpose is to lead and support a positive and thriving basketball community. Its strategic focus is on increasing participation, improving the quality of experiences for players and volunteers, and using basketball as a vehicle to create positive social impact within communities across Scotland.
