CJCE Community Sports Hub Officer

Grade: Competitive Salary for Full Time 36 hours per week

Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work across all departments of our Community Sports Hub. We are looking for someone with correct skillset and to be enthusiastic, good communicator and have a passion, working with people of all ages and abilities within the local community.

The role will cover two main areas:

  • Providing Support to develop and sustain our Townhead Park Sports Hub Facility provision and programmes.
  • Partnership working with other organisations, delivering, and signposting them to Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise

Job summary:

  1. To manage and deliver the Sporting Pathway provision through Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise
  2. To deliver a range of internal commissioned projects and programmes, including those from the external partnerships and funding bodies.
  3. To lead in the implementation management, & monitoring of quality activity & sport provision within Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise
  4. To support community groups and our member clubs and teams to increase participation in activity & sport opportunities.
  5. Manage the coaching structure and pathway, ensuring it meets national governing body guidelines for best practice for age and stage development.
  6. To establish and develop a financial framework that protects CJCE business and complies with regulatory requirements. Includes systems and acting developing financial business and transactions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Develop sporting opportunities in line with the CJCE Business Plan.
  2. To deliver the relevant funded programmes in line with funders conditions.
  3. To ensure the work of the CJCE is represented across Ayrshire and partners.
  4. To recruit, train and line manage relevant staff and volunteers as service needs require. Providing appropriate supervision, guidance, and training.
  5. To market and promote all activity opportunities and success utilising a range of marketing and promotion avenues including social media to promote the service.
  6. To manage and co-ordinate a club and community educational programme that fulfils the partners and community needs.
  7. To lead on acquiring external funding for CJCE and work with relevant partners on other funding opportunities.
  8. To manage a wide range of events in partnership with relevant sporting partners.
  9. Manage gathering and evidencing data for relevant work areas and report through appropriate internal and external avenues as required.
  10. To manage the day-to-day financial aspects of CJCE. Duties will include, but not be limited to, invoicing, payment of creditors bills, purchasing, financial reporting to the board, liaison with CJCE financial controller. Experience of real time accounting software such as Xero or Cashflow would be an advantage.

Person specification:

Education - essential

  • Relevant Professional qualification, degree, or minimum 3 years relevant experience.

Experience & Knowledge - essential

  • Proven experience of working in the field of sports development.
  • Ability to manage projects from development to implementation.
  • Proven track record of applying and managing external funding.
  • The ability to present information in an accurate and appropriate format, illustrating good communication, personal organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of management and recruitment of staff and volunteers

Experience and knowledge - desirable


  • Knowledge of the key sport and physical activity strategies and how these impact on service deliver.
  • Knowledge of local talent pathways, educational bodies, and associated support available.
  • Experience in using on time accounting software such as Xero or Cashflow.

Additional requirements - essential

  • Competent in the use of social media for marketing and promotion purpose.
  • Experience of collecting information for reporting purposes.

  • Experience of using Microsoft Packages
