Angling Scotland Ltd
Angling Scotland Ltd is the umbrella organsiation for the three Scottish Angling Governing Bodies, Scottish Anglers National Association (SANA), Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling (SFCA) and Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers (SFSA) and provides a collective voice for the whole of the sport of Angling in Scotland; we exist to protect and promote angling and anglers, support the discipline SGBs and grow participation.
We bring the Angling SGBs together with a wide range of partners to engage with national and local government, Scottish Parliament, sportscotland, business, the voluntary sector and other key organisations, to shape, strengthen, promote and grow the sport of angling in Scotland. We also develop and implement common core policies and procedures for Scottish angling to ensure effective governance, standardization, transparency and thus confidence for our member organisations, clubs, individual anglers and the wider Scottish public. Angling Scotland, through its sub committees, provides the governance structure for the three Angling SGBs and, through the Angling Development Board of Scotland (ADBoS), the training and licensing of coaches and delivery of grass roots introduction and schools programs.
The discipline specific SGBs remain responsible for the governance, technical development and delivery of their individual sports, competitions and competitive pathways, the selection and fielding of International Representative teams and provision a formal membership structure for Clubs and Individual members. They provide technical coaching and competition development opportunities to support their own discipline specific performance pathways.
This is an exciting time to join the newly formed Angling Scotland Limited and help shape the future for the extremely varied sport of Angling in Scotland. As an organisation we are still evolving as we seek to establish the structure and sub committees to meet the needs of the sport for future generations. Angling Scotland Limited brings together the voice, the administration and the memberships of the Scottish Anglers National Association Limited (SANA), Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling (SFCA) and Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers (SFSA) from our base in Fife.
Sound and effective governance is essential to the organisations success as it develops and delivers across a number of priority work streams. Ensuring that the Board remains effective, efficient and focussed on driving the delivery and implementation of the targets in the Strategic Plan and Annual Business Plans will be critical in growing and developing the sport. The role of Chairperson is central to this.
The successful individual will gain expertise of leading and advising a small but dynamic Board as a key influencer within Scottish sport. They will help to shape the future of Scottish Angling, particularly in relation to strategic opportunities and partnerships between Angling Scotland Ltd, our member SGBs, key partners – eg sportscotland – and other potential organisations. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for sport and presents great potential for meeting new people and new networks and making a genuine difference to sport in Scotland and opportunities for young people.
The Angling Scotland Board is developing a strong, skill-based Board and is keen to appoint a candidate with vision and leadership to drive the organisation over the duration of our new Strategic Plan 2017-2021. With the right skills and experience the Chairperson will play a key role in further increasing the profile of Angling Scotland so that it can further support and represent the interests of our member governing bodies and positively influence policy and strategy for the benefit of the sport of angling in Scotland.
