Coaches: Shettleston Football and Athletic Club

Shettleston Football and Athletic Club located in the East End of Glasgow is looking for a volunteer Head of Academy and volunteer coaches to join the clubs youth academy. We are looking for people who are fun, enthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop a pathway from our youths into our senior team who are beginning a new chapter in the SPFL pyramid structure


  • Head coach: 1.3  (or working towards)
  • Assistant coach: 1.2 childrens/youth pathway (or working towards)
  • GK coach: level 1 (or working towards)
  • Coach Helper: 1:1 childrens/youth pathway (or working towards)

Time Commitment:  6 hrs per week

Days & Times:  Mon & Wed 5 – 7pm or 6 - 8pm & Sunday morning

Skills and Attributes Required

Coaches should have the ability to:

  • Motivate children
  • Communicate effectively
  • Make things FUN.
  • Use time efficiently and effectively
  • Forward plan
  • Develop an appropriate level of technical knowledge
  • Observe and analyse skills and make improvements
  • Make use of appropriate equipment and adapt if necessary
  • Evaluate all coaching sessions

Although these roles are voluntary, the club is committed to supporting coaches up to their level 1.3 as well as sourcing funding to support coaches with a contribution towards the costs of further qualifications that benefit the club and community.
