Edinburgh Napier University – Volunteering & Undergraduate Placements

At Edinburgh Napier University, we are dedicated to supporting organisations by providing access to talented students and graduates, as well as fostering partnerships that drive mutual success. In our School of Applied Sciences, we are seeking hosts in Edinburgh or the surrounding areas to host our sport students on our academic-credit bearing placement opportunities. These placements are a vital part of the students learning and development and we're keen to connect with organisations that can offer meaningful, real-world experience in relevant settings.

These opportunities are open to both our BSc (Hons) Physical Activity & Health, and BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science students who have the option of the following unpaid placements. Our students have a wide range of interests including:

  • Sport and coaching for children and adults
  • Personal training and fitness
  • Nutrition and diet
  • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • Physical activity for mental health

Volunteering & Employability Placement

This placement is for our students in their 2nd year of their undergraduate degree, and are required to complete 20 hours of volunteering with a company in return of 20 academic credits.

The placement can start from January-end of February each year, and students have until May to complete all the required hours. All we need from you is a role description of the opportunity to advertise to students from end of October ahead of the placement, where students can then apply by sending their CVs/Cover letters to you.

Undergraduate Placement

This placement is for our students in their 4th and final year of their undergraduate degree, and are required to complete an 80 hour placement at a company in return for 60 academic credits.

This placement can start from mid-September each year, and students have until late December to complete their required hours. If you are interested in hosting, all we need is a role description to promote to students [matching process or recruitment process for future cohorts?]

If this is of interest to your organisation, please get in touch with our Placement Team at SASplacements@napier.ac.uk to discuss in more detail.
