Academy Scout: Queen’s Park Football Club

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the oldest club in Scottish Football, Queen’s Park Football Club. 

The role  

Queen’s Park F.C is currently seeking committed and motivated Academy Scouts in a variety of locations in Scotland and England.  The main purpose of the role is to identify children and young people that have the potential to play within a professional academy.

Duties and responsibilities  

  • Attend relevant matches, tournaments, competitions and events in line with specified remit.
  • Assess players’ capabilities and development needs.
  • Submit assessments and reports using the Club’s online scouting database.
  • Report findings and recommendations to the Head of Academy Recruitment & Scouting and other relevant staff members.
  • Engage actively with other members of the scouting team. 
  • Undertake extensive networking and build positive relationships with clubs, other scouts, trusted sources, leads and other key stakeholders in the football community. 
  • Adhere to all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the well being of children and young people.
  • Uphold the principles set out in the National Protocol for the Recruitment, Management and Monitoring of Football Scouts.

Other considerations  

  • Ability to work irregular and unsociable hours at times, with evenings and weekends expected.

Personal Qualities (Essential)

  • Ability to work collaboratively and support colleagues across the scouting department. 
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in talent identification and recruitment of talented young people.
  • Demonstrated trustworthiness, professionalism, and integrity, recognising the role as an ambassador for Queen’s Park F.C.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant football regulations concerning the recruitment and identification of children and young people within Scottish and English football.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Scotland's national framework for children's wellbeing and protection.
  • Comprehensive understanding of children's rights and participation.
  • Ability to understand and respond sensitively to the needs of children and young people, parents/carers, and the club with which a young person is currently registered.

Qualifications 

Possess, or demonstrate working toward completing, the following:

  • Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football certificate
  • Mental Health in Scottish Football Certificate
  • Scottish FA Talent ID Award Level 1
  • Scottish FA Talent ID Award Level 2 (desirable)
