Performance Coach: Uddingston Hockey Club

Uddingston Hockey Club are looking to recruit a new Gents Performance Coach (Gents 2s) for the 2024/25 season. The Gents Performance Coach will be part of the Gents performance coaching group covering the Gents 1s and 2s Teams. The Gents 2s are coming into the new season off the back of a strong 2023/24 season, missing out on promotion to Regional 1 via the playoffs. They will be key in delivering the long-term performance team strategy - led by the Director of Hockey and Gents Head Coach. They will play a lead role in the planning and execution of the strategy, with particular responsibility for the Gent’s 2s.

The Role Brief

  • Planning and delivering training sessions suitable for a performance team, with delivery focus for the Gents 2s/3s on a Wednesday night
  • Lead the Gents 2nd team on Saturday match days
  • Opportunities to assist the Gents Head Coach at training sessions
  • Work with the Gent’s Head Coach on development, selection, training sessions and team tactics, ensuring that open communication is upheld throughout the entire season
  • Coach development opportunities within the club through the Director of Hockey
  • Help to maintain and develop the culture and behaviours required within the performance squad to achieve the performance strategy
  • Help identify and nurture the talented young hockey players coming through the club, acting as a key part of the players development journey to aspiring 1s players
  • Monitor performance and provide regular feedback to players

Requirements

  • Ideally, you will have a UK Level 2 coaching Qualification, or be working towards this qualification, alongside a valid First Aid certificate
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU passport or valid work permit and speak a good standard of English
  • Experience of coaching within a performance environment is desirable
  • Experience of integrating video analysis into a performance programme is desirable

Enthusiasm for developing existing youth and senior players and helping attract new players to improve the team
