Overall summary

Lacrosse is a small but exciting sport which now has Olympic Recognition, and Lacrosse Scotland is committed to developing our player base in Scotland across all ages and at all levels. The Director of Performance will play a critical part in achieving our strategy of driving continued and improved international success in all disciplines of the sport - senior, junior, men’s, women’s, field, box (indoor) - in their various existing and emerging permutations through the creation of a new performance programme.

This programme should include talent identification and target players at various stages of development, and - working closely with the Director of Development - should include a renewed engagement with the schools at the traditional heartland of the women’s game in Scotland, as well as investment in club development days with Performance Team staff for our recreational clubs. Appropriately identified school and club players will have the opportunity for development through a Talent Pathway to be designed by the Directors of Performance and Development which will, in turn, increase the size and depth of our National training pools.

The Director of Performance will play a fundamental role in the success of our teams, providing the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of our performance programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Performance Coaches to ensure they are appropriate to deliver the Strategic Plan and allow our players to excel, and will drive the development of these programmes as necessary.

This is an exciting time to come onboard, particularly for the Senior performance teams. Senior Women (Field) have consistently placed in the top-10 at the World Cup with their most recent World Cup result seeing them place 5th. The (as now named) World Championships are due to be competed in summer 2022. Senior Men (Field) are currently ranked 11th and are working towards the 2023 World Championships. Senior Men (Box) are a new programme, having competed in one World Championship in 2019, and are preparing for the 2022 European Box Championships
