Position: First team sports scientist
Line Manager: First team manager

General

  1. To provide an excellent level of sports science/conditioning provision for all first team players.
  2. To fully integrate within the science and medicine department.
  3. To understand and accept the demands of the role, the unsociable hours and short-notice schedule changes.

Role Specific

  1. Collect, collate, and interpret daily training GPS & Heart rate data.
  2. Ensure GPS units & Heart rate belts are maintained in a fully working order.
  3. Attend regular meetings to provide feedback on training physical outputs and how these can be improved or managed going forward.
  4. Collect, collate, and interpret field-based rehabilitation sessions using GPS & Heart rate.
  5. Ensuring GPS & heart rate player data from games or training sessions is collected and collated.
  6. Assist with the development of injury training programmes daily, inclusive of warm up and gym based sessions.
  7. Implement the strength and conditioning programmes for players throughout the season.
  8. To contribute to the development of recovery strategies, monitoring and screening analysis
  9. Highlight player weaknesses and provide supplementary gym-based exercises to individuals to address these issues.

 Matchdays

  1. To attend all first team games.
  2. To provide pre-match and post-match preparation. Including warm up, cool down, player top ups and nutrition.
  3. To ensuring all monitoring equipment is prepared and in full working order for all match days.

Person Specification, Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • BSc (hons) Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning.
  • Evidence of working in an elite sport environment
  • Experience of using data management systems
  • Evidence of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively with players and staff at all levels with appropriate discretion where required
  • Dedicated to self-improvement and continuous CPD

Desirable:

  • MSc in relevant field
  • First aid qualification
