Movement Park is a charity that uses the power of movement, sport, and physical activity to improve lives and strengthen communities. Based in Glasgow, we create opportunities for all ages and backgrounds to engage in movement in fun, innovative, and inclusive ways.
With exciting projects on the horizon in Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh, the expansion of Movement Park marks a pivotal moment in our growth. To support this, we are seeking new trustees to join our Board who can help guide our future and ensure we continue to thrive as a valued community resource.
Roles available
We are looking for a new Chairperson and a Finance Trustee who can help us steer Movement Park into its next phase.
We’re also looking for trustees to sit on the board who have experience in law and governance; innovation and development; coach and volunteer education; AI and systems development; fundraising and income generation; marketing and communications; community engagement and inclusion; local authority or public sector partnerships.

Joining the Movement Park board is an opportunity to shape the vision and sustainability of a growing charity and influence strategy, growth, and impact across Scotland. You will be supporting projects in Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh at a defining stage and be part of a committed team that values inclusion, innovation, and community resilience.
What the roles entail
All trustee roles are voluntary and require attendance at six board meetings a year. These are a mixture of in person and video calls.
All trustees share responsibility for:
- Setting the vision, values, and strategy of Movement Park.
- Ensuring sound governance and legal compliance.
- Monitoring financial health and approving budgets.
- Acting as ambassadors for the charity and promoting our purpose.
- Supporting and constructively challenging the leadership team.
Chairperson (specific role)
The key responsibilities of the chair person are to lead the Board in setting strategy and vision and ensure effective governance and board performance. You’ll work closely with the chief executive to provide guidance and oversight and represent Movement Park externally to partners, funders,and stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who can help facilitate inclusive discussions and ensure all voices are heard and support succession planning and trustee development.
Skills sought
- Experience chairing boards, committees, or senior leadership groups.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Commitment to inclusion and movement-based social impact.
Finance Trustee (specific role)
The key responsibilities of the finance trustee is to oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting and chair the finance sub-committee. We’re looking for support in monitoring financial risks and advising on mitigations as well as ensuring compliance with charity finance regulations. A trustee who can support decisions on investments and strategic funding and work with external accountants and auditors.
Skills sought
- Qualified accountant or significant financial management experience.
- Knowledge of charity financial regulations and reporting.
- Risk management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain finance clearly to non-financial colleagues.
