Scottish Gymnastics is seeking notes of interest from individuals who would like to be considered for coaching roles at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The roles will be challenging but extremely rewarding and provide an opportunity for the individuals to be at the heart of a home Games in Scotland. Notes of interest must be supported by the club.

Lead Coach for the Women’s Artistic Team
Online interviews will be held on 24 or 25 November 2025, so the application window is open until Friday 14 November 2025.
Note: Lead Coach for the Men’s Artistic Team is confirmed as National Coach, Marius Gherman
Assistant Coach for the Women’s Artistic Team
Interviews and appointment will be made in March 2026, so the application window will be announced in February 2026.

Team Scotland Staff Camp

Residential Preparation Camps at Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre
- 25 – 28 May
- 15 – 18 June
- 26 – 27 June
- 06 – 09 July
- 18 – 20 July
Residential Games Period in Glasgow
- 20 – 28 July 2026 (Competition dates 24 – 28 July)
We are looking for experienced individuals with a track record of preparing and coaching gymnasts at international competitions. Individuals will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of a dynamic support team.
These are voluntary roles, with Scottish Gymnastics / Commonwealth Games Scotland covering accommodation and subsistence expenses associated with the preparation camps and games period.

Key duties:
Lead Coach
- Work closely with the Artistic Technical Director and Lead Manager in the planning, delivery of all the Commonwealth Games preparation and competition activity
- Liaise with selected gymnasts’ personal coaches to monitor training progress, fitness status and competition readiness
- Comply with, and commit to, mandatory aspects of safeguarding, health & safety and athlete wellbeing in all matters
- Work closely with the G2026 Gymnastics Team Manager to ensure all logistics and field of play requirements are covered for the team
- Attend all Commonwealth Games Scotland and/or Scottish Gymnastics activities and meetings as required and directed by the Lead Manager / Head of Sport.
- Attend all Commonwealth Games Scotland and/or Scottish Gymnastics training or meetings as required as directed by the Lead Manager / Head of Sport.
- Complete a post-Games technical report for Scottish Gymnastics and participate in the G2026 review and debrief process
- Support the Lead Coach in the post-Games technical report for Scottish Gymnastics and participate in the G2026 review and debrief process
Assistant Coach
- Support the Artistic Technical Director, Lead Coach and Lead Manager in the planning, delivery of all the Commonwealth Games preparation and competition activity

Person specification:
Lead Coach
- High Performance Coach qualification in the required discipline
- Scottish Gymnastics / British Gymnastics membership with up-to-date safeguarding and PVG
- Excellent communicator, capable of working with a range of individuals and as part of a team
- Strong organisational planning and good IT skills
- Ability to create a positive and motivational training environment
Assistant Coach
- Minimum Level 4 Coach working towards High Performance Coach, with international competition experience
- Scottish Gymnastics / British Gymnastics membership with up-to-date safeguarding and PVG
- Excellent communicator, capable of working with a range of individuals and as part of a team
- Good organisational planning and IT skills
- Ability to contribute to a positive and motivational training environment
