Sara Naveed
Name: Sara Naveed
How long have you been a FFG tutor? 2 years
What do you do day to day?
I am recently graduated, and I spend my time working, volunteering in my local community and studying Islam at the moment!
What sport(s) do you participate in?
I play Netball and Basketball and I recently got selected for the Pakistan National netball team.
Do you have any female role models?
My role model is Jamad, a Muslim Somali basketball player from Boston. She also runs her own muslim basketball camps around America. Her representation and dedication to basketball inspired me and kept me in sports as a young girl growing up with no representation in sports.
Why did you want to join the programme?
I want to be that Muslim representation in the room so that those Muslim girls are also heard and seen. I am super passionate about girls participation in sports and an advocate that there is a sport for everyone.
What have you learned so far? I have learned that everyone has their own journey with sport and everyone has their own unique story which is their advantage as it is personal to them.
What is your advice for girls who want to get involved in sport?
Your never going to be the best at any sport when you first start, it's all about learning, practising and staying motivated so that you will thrive and enjoy the journey.
