Applicants sought for Men’s Rugby Head Coach
Hillfoots RFC is recruiting a new Head Coach for its senior men’s squad for season 2025/26 and beyond. We are seeking a qualified and ambitious coach to lead our coaching and management team.
The position is part-time, with training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and matches on Saturdays. The Head Coach role offers £6,000 per year.
Our 1st XV is a mixture of youth and experience and play a fast-flowing style of rugby, which has seen us compete strongly in Caledonia Division 2 Midlands and win the Midlands Bowl this season. We run an occasional 2nd XV development squad – a mix of the ‘old and bold’ and those on the verge of 1st XV rugby. They are playing a series of non-league fixtures this season with a long-term view to eventually re-enter the league.
For the Head Coach role, you will be expected to effectively and thoroughly plan all senior men’s training sessions, matches and season phases keeping the plans player-focused.
We are looking for individuals who:
- have a passion for the game of rugby;
- ideally have significant experience in coaching a senior rugby team or teams over a number of seasons;
- will seek to help the club grow the game in the local community; and
- are able to work with senior players at various stages in their careers and have a clear understanding of long-term player development principles.
We would expect applicants to have undertaken the Scottish Rugby Aspiring Coaching Programme (or UKCC Level 2) or higher.
This is an ideal opportunity for a coach seeking to make their mark with an ambitious and hard-working squad. Alternatively, a more experienced coach could bring their experience to a club which has aspirations of playing at a higher level. The Club encourages the progression of the successful applicant’s coaching qualifications through CPD sessions run by Scottish Rugby and other providers.
