Kira Henry

Name: Kira Henry

School/university/college/job/Volunteering: I’m currently in my 3rd year at the University of Edinburgh studying PE Teaching. I work with InspireSport as a Tour Rep. I volunteer with my university’s Sport Union as well as being involved in the SFA’s Youth Ambassador of Change Program and sportscotland's 6th Young Peoples Sport Panel. I’m also part of Scottish Club Sports Young Peoples Working Group.

Sport (s): I play football but would happily get involved in any sport available to me!

Who is your female role model in sport? Definitely my PE teacher from when I was in school. She shaped my whole mindset on sport and how important it is to get other people involved. I loved sport in school but somehow she made it so much more than that which is what I hope I can do when I in future follow her footsteps and become a teacher too.

Why did you want to join the Fit for Girls programme: I wanted to join the program because I’ve seen what a positive difference having an older female influence can have. Being able to help shape the future of womens sport just seemed like an opportunity that couldn’t be passed upon.

What do you want to achieve as a Fit for Girls Tutor: I would like to be able to help young girls see how much sport can contribute to their lives. It’s done so much for me and now I want to see how much it can do for others.

Your message to girls wanting to get involved in sport: You never regret the things you tried, you only regret the things you never done. You might not like all sports but there’s at least one for everyone!
