Who is your female role model in sport?

Kathrine Switzer – she was a trailblazer for female equality within sports. As the first women to ever run in the Boston marathon she had to overcome both physical and societal barriers to compete in the sport she loved.

Why did you want to join the Fit for Girls programme?

I have a passion for female empowerment, and I know how much sport has benefited me in my life. I felt that the fit for girl’s programme, as its designed, really gives girls the tools and instils skills upon them to prepare a workforce that will better female participation across Scotland. And from there I just knew I wanted to be a part of that journey.

What do you want to achieve as a Fit for Girls Tutor?

I’d like to build on my knowledge and understanding of what barriers girls face on a day-to-day basis and hopefully help seek solutions

Your message to girls wanting to get involved in sport:

Sport is for everyone. Push yourself out your comfort zone and try as many things as possible. There are so many more aspects to sport that sometimes people don’t realise, athlete, coach, official, events, the list goes on. Keep trying till you find the part of sport that makes you want to come back. You won't regret it!
