Most sport and physical activity data uses the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) as a proxy for understanding poverty and low income. However, SIMD is broader and considers access to seven domains:
- current income
- employment
- housing
- health
- education
- skills and training
- geographic access to services and telecommunications
