Physiotherapy

What we do

Physiotherapists at the sportscotland institute of sport work with athletes, coaches and support staff to optimise athletes’ musculoskeletal health with the aim of allowing them to train and compete without physical restriction.

This is achieved by focusing on the development of efficient and effective movement, managing injury risk as well as the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of any injuries that do occur.

Athletes who are robust, move well and are resistant to injury are able to train and practice to their full potential and in doing so are able to achieve their optimum level of performance.

Physiotherapists working in sport use skills including clinical assessment, postural, ergonomic and biomechanical analysis, pain management, manual therapy, exercise prescription, rehabilitation and graded return to activity, sport and performance to ensure athletes are able to train and compete at the peak of performance.
