Recipe for success: Choc Fruit and Nut Balls

These delicious treats are well worth 10 minutes of your time...  plus, 2-3 choc balls and a glass of milk make a well balanced recovery snack!

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Serves: Makes 12-15 balls

Ingredients: 

  • Almonds - 1 cup
  • Dates - ½ cup
  • Raisins - ½ cup
  • Chia Seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Cocoa powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 2 teaspoons
  • Desiccated coconut (unsweetened) - to coat

You will need:

  • Food processor
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 1 tablespoon

Method:

  1. Put all ingredients except honey and desiccated coconut in food processor and blend until well combined. If mix remains too dry and doesn't bind together add honey. Optional: You may also like to add orange, peppermint or vanilla essence or cinnamon powder to flavour

  2. Make into balls using tablespoon of mixture per ball (about 1in diameter)

  3. Put desiccated coconut in a bowl and roll each ball to coat

Storage: Store in an airtight container in the freezer and take out as needed. Once out of the freezer, store in fridge and consume within 5 days.
