Running can be a great way to keep you physically and mentally healthy.
The Physical Preparation coaches have created a 'Ready to run' programme highlighting common injury areas and exercises you can do to prevent these from happening. Watch the exercises under each of the focus area graphics.
Considerations
- Running can place a considerable demand on your body, especially if you're not used to it. During running the body can experience forces of up to 2-3 x bodyweight when your foot strikes the ground.
- Plan your training! Doing too much too soon can be counterproductive.
- Common injuries associated with a new running programme can include pain at the hip, knee or ankle.
