After 14 years’ service Mike Roberts has decided to leave sportscotland. Having spent almost 35 years in the sports sector Mike has decided to take some time out from his career to focus on his family and will consider his future career options later in 2023.
During his time at sportscotland Mike has been responsible for leading a wide range of areas including the modernisation of Scottish Governing Bodies and Active Schools, implementation of the new Scottish Coaching Certificate framework and supporting and developing a range of national and local sports facilities across Scotland. Most recently Mike led on the Scottish sport response to Covid-19 with Scottish Government which included the provision of national guidelines, sourcing of funding for partners and providing general advice across the sports sector.
Mike Roberts said, "It has been a pleasure to be work with colleagues at sportscotland and across the sporting sector over the past 14 years and I would like to thank my team, partners and the sportscotland Board for their support during this time. It has been a difficult decision to leave the organisation, but after 35 years in the industry I now believe I need to take some time out and focus on my family before considering career options later in 2023."
